Rémy Jammes, hawker of images, craftsman in paint, sculpture and objects. Surveyor of reality, free spirit of the imaginary. … His industrious hands put to good use and discretely incorporate such rudimentary and diverse materials as wood, steel, sheet metal, wire, martyred cardboard from desk blotters that have been scraped and scratched, tar, photosensitive substances and that poor hated rust of the hoods of cars all reconverted into painting canvasses. Painting-car hoods with enigmatic individuals from yesteryear, tangled signs, multitudes of secret drawings that reveal themselves as we watch clouds of beautiful rust displayed in subtle nuances of color. Paintings of masks, faces created from spurts of bright colors. All these humorous mugs stare at us as much as we look at them. So much communication to establish. Paintings with faces in conversation with each other, speak to each other and to us in the language of our era with residuals of the past. Sculptures in rusted metal sheets and blocks of wood are like a bit of constructivism revisited. Amalgamations and explorations. Form and depth. The spectator finds his soul food, melts with pleasure and savors the abundance of imagination. Stéphanonimus
